First, students will explore the songwriting process and their creative voice through games and improv sessions. Then, with Liatris's collection of guitars, keyboards, and percussion instruments, they'll use studio-quality recording equipment to bring their visions to life!

Each songwriter will receive their mixed and mastered recordings within two weeks of their session ending and will be featured on the Liatris Bandcamp compilation at the end of the summer.

Has your child....

.....never written a song before? PERFECT! Together we'll generate a ton of material and end up with a song and recording by the end of the week.

....already written a song they want to record? PERFECT! We can spend more time editing, arranging, and recording the work they've already done.

.....hated singing but loves noodling on their instrument? PERFECT! Digital recording is excellent for layering different parts and creating instrumentals on the fly.

During the week, we will:

- Play writing games to generate material for songs and/or instrumentals

- Build confidence in our creative voice as songwriters and studio musicians

- Get more comfortable making mistakes and surprising ourselves

- Learn how collaborating with other musicians elevates our own art

- Develop lyric and music writing skills

- Listen to, analyze, and discover some different styles of music production

- Familiarize ourselves with DAW (digital audio workstation) basics to record multi-track songs

- Tinker with different microphones and digital instruments

- Take trampoline and art breaks
